Registration cancellation requests must be received by October 6, 2018. No refunds will be made after that date.

The Indiana-ACC will not be validating parking.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
1. All current Indiana fellows in a cardiology training program are invited to present clinical research or a case report during the poster session. Eligible posters may present clinical research or a case report (may present recent data or information that has been presented previously at a local or national meeting).

2. Cardiovascular Team Members. All current Indiana-ACC Cardiovascular Team members (RN, APN, PAs, Pharmacists, etc.) are invited to present their research (past or present) during the poster session. Eligible posters may present recent data or information that has been presented previously at a local or national meeting.

GUIDELINES FOR CASE REPORT SUBMISSIONS (Fellows)
If you choose to submit a case study, here are some guidelines:
1. Case reports should be of a rare, unusual, or unexpected finding in a patient;
2. The diagnosis should be known or the workup as complete as possible (all evidence as to the diagnosis should be included);
3. There should be a brief review of the literature including numbers of patients with similar findings/outcomes, risk factors, how it has been evaluated/treated, and outcomes where known;
4. The case should include as much follow-up as is available;
5. Pathology slides and supporting evidence should be included. Here is a good reference for putting together a case report.

JUDGING
The abstracts will be judged in advance to select the top two fellow in training abstracts for oral presentation. The rest of the accepted abstracts will be presented as posters and judged at the poster presentation on Saturday, October 13.

PRIZES
* FIT Oral Presentation – First and second place for the oral presentation will be awarded based on a combination of abstract content and oral presentation delivery as judged by a panel of cardiologists from various institutions.
First place – $500; Second place – $300
* FIT Poster Presentation Clinical Research:
First place – $100, Second place – $75, Third place – $50
* FIT Case Presentation:
First place – $100, Second place – $75, Third place – $50
* Cardiovascular Team Member Poster Presentation Clinical Research:
First place – $100, Second place – $75, Third place – $50

DAY OF THE MEETING
To prepare your abstract for the poster presentation, please note that you will have available to you a 40″x 60″ foam core board to which to adhere your presentation material. Bring pushpins to affix your material. The poster session will take place from 7:00-8:00 a.m. and during the morning break on Saturday, October 13. Please stand by your posters to answer questions.

* Only one abstract may be submitted per person.
* Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author to be present on October 21 if his/her poster is accepted. If the author is unable to attend, the poster will not be permitted to be presented.

Statement of Need
While cardiovascular care is rapidly evolving due to new technologies and treatment options, healthcare providers need to be aware of the new heath care environment in which they practice as well as knowledge of the past advances and technologies which contributed to the current standards of optimal cardiovascular care. Healthcare providers need periodic educational updates on emerging clinical trials and advances in patient management to provide optimal care. Knowledge and competencies learned from case scenarios applicable to daily practice and changes to practice guidelines, will allow them to apply evidence-based research to their patient management decisions.

Overall Goal
The overall goal of this activity is to increase learner competence by discovering strategies to anticipate research-driven changes in practice, to enhance professional growth, and to demonstrate efficacy in team based patient care practice as new clinical approaches and technologies change. The Indiana Chapter-ACC Annual Meeting will include education that provides needs-based learning covering a thorough overview of health care legislation and regulations, cardio-oncology, atrial fibrillation, the latest cardiovascular technology, and improving performance by using appropriate guidelines based treatment.
